Thanks Ralf, it is true that 'version.h' is among the files, several times, although not 'build/include/linux/version.h'.
Is your recommendation then to edit VBoxLinuxAdditions.run to modify the build path? Or, is there some combination of environment variables or maybe other packages that will make VBoxLinuxAdditions.run construct the path differently? I could certainly try to hack through it, and maybe i'll be cornered into doing just that, buit i know my situation is not particularly unique. Anyhow, thanks again for your analysis, and i'm all ears for any further steps you (or anybody else) might suggest!! dan On Sun, Jan 22, 2017 at 10:24 PM, Ralf Mardorf <[email protected]> wrote: > > >> On 23 Jan 2017, at 06:56, Dan Hitt <[email protected]> wrote: >> >> So i went to the packages.ubuntu.com site to see if i could find the >> build/include/linux/version.h file. >> >> That didn't seem to be part of any package for 16.10. > > Actually the file list does include version.h. > http://packages.ubuntu.com/yakkety/amd64/linux-headers-4.8.0-22-generic/filelist > > There's an issue with the build path. > > > -- > xubuntu-users mailing list > [email protected] > Modify settings or unsubscribe at: > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users -- xubuntu-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users
