I know you asked for a gui text viewer solution, but nevertheless try the 'less' command is in the terminal. It's a lot simpler than downloading something from a repository. Just type 'less <filename>'. less will stop page-by-page. You can also use your cursor keys to move up and down. just type 'q' to leave.
