Hi,

I am using Xubuntu 18.04.1 on a HP laptop
HP Notebook - 15-bw005nb (code 1ZL87EA)

*uname -a :*
Linux yvo-hp 4.15.0-34-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Aug 27 15:21:48 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
*cat /etc/*release*
DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu
DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.04
DISTRIB_CODENAME=bionic
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS"

I notice that the avahi-daemon spins up to 100% and more at boot time, and
then slowly
goes down to a range of 60%-85% over time.

I did not notice this on version 17.10.

Is this normal ? Can this behaviour be influenced ?
What is the daemon really needed for ? Can I remove it ?
(It heats up the processor, and my fan is working overtime ..)

Brgds,

Yvo.
