This almost certainly is about the window manager, but I've seen it on 16.04 and 18.04. Maybe someone here knows something about it.
When I 'restore' (i.e., un-maximize) a window using the square button, the size of the window will change only by a few pixels if at all. I can drag it smaller and then for a while, toggling between 'normal' and maximized will return to the smaller size I just chose. But after a while it's back to barely changing at all. This happens across multiple apps, after reboots, across versions, etc., etc. I can't compare to other distros since I run only Xubuntu, but it's consistent here. Certainly not a showstopper, but it would be nice to know how to fix it so that sub-maximized window sizes are remembered. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas how to fix it?
