Hello, IBM has posted an Eclipse plugin for Macromedia's XUL dialect code-named MXML (aka Flash MX Markup Language) on the alphaWorks site that lets you build Macromedia Flash applications using the server-side Macromedia Flex engine. The Eclipse plugin for Flex includes two editors (XUL and ActionScript - Macromedia's JavaScript dialect) and even a debugger that lets you step into, step over, pause and resume Flex apps running as Flash movies in Flash players in a browser. On the alphaWorks Flex plugin project page the IBM'ers write: The MXML editor extends the Structured Text Editor (SED) and is a text-based, XML schema-driven, validating editor. Future versions of the MXML editor will include a drag-and-drop-style design view. The ActionScript editor is patterned after the JavaScript editor and sports syntax highlighting and code completion on built-in objects. Future versions of the ActionScript editor will support code hinting on imported and user-defined types.

For some screenshots of Brady in action check out Christophe Coenraets' (Micromedia Flex Evangelist) blog story titled "Developing Flex Applications with Brady and other tools". Christope writes: Macromedia is also working on a tool, code-named Brady, built on top of the Dreamweaver code base. Brady allows you to develop Flex applications in a WYSIWYG environment. Just like in Dreamweaver, you can work in Brady's Design view, in the Code view or in the Split View: * When you modify the user interface in the design view, the code is automatically adjusted. * When you modify your code in the code view, you automatically see you user interface changing in the design view Full story @ http://www.markme.com/cc/archives/004254.cfm - Gerald PS: For more info about Macromedia Flex stop at http://www.macromedia.com/software/flex or read Steven Webster's article titled "Building Rich Internet Applications for Macromedia Flex" online @ http://www.ed-journal.com/index.php?T=edjartcl&ID=36 ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
