Hello, Today's MozillaZine story titled "MozNGW: Mozilla-Based Client for Novell GroupWise" points to an upcoming open source toolkit named XULU that builds on Mozilla and XUL and is sponsored by Redback Systems - the makers of MozNGW.
The XULU project page states: What is XULU? In a nutshell it is a cross-platform application framework based on the Mozilla codebase. Whilst the various Mozilla technologies provide the ability to produce cross platform applications, there is no common framework in which Mozilla applications may integrate together, and provide common services and data aggregation points between them. XULU's goal is just that, a cross-platform client application framework that sits on top of the core Mozilla components. and concludes: XULU will be released as Open Source under the NPL. The final component of the XULU core, will be XULU Studio. XULU Studio is effectively Visual Basic for cross platform applications. In the same way that a Visual Basic developer can 'drag and drop' combo boxes, buttons etc onto their forms, and then edit their code directly, XULU Studio will provide a rich XUL developer IDE specifically for XULU, but also any XUL based application. A 3rd party XULU developer will then be able to write a XULU framework snap-in, that integrates not only with the XULU core itself, but any other XULU snap-ins installed by the user, where data can be shared and aggregated across applications. The final release of Mozilla for GroupWise will be one such snap-in.
