Second, the "form" of the markup adheres strictly with the concepts of using markup in a declarative and extensible manner. This one had me rolling on the floor. Who created the XAML subsection on the Code Project? I did!!! (I'm an editor for CP, if anyone didn't know that). But more to the point, I view "XAML" as a generic thing. Microsoft has one implementation. There are a lot of others. > Why would you waste your time? Hmmm. That's a pretty narrow division. "Real" XAML isn't even available yet. It supports .NET only as a kluge of namespace tags. > A proprietary format, open source or otherwise, won't fly. LOL. If we want to talk about proprietary formats, we have only to look at Microsoft's implementation and one of my favorite subjects, the VisualTree. MyXaml is almost a 100% generic format because it is based entirely on the underlying assembly namespace, class, and property names. There is only one instance of a "proprietary" format (borrowed from Microsoft's implementation, actually!) and there are a bunch of additional classes that extend the .NET classes, which you can use or not. > Anyone even slightly thinking of using such a solution needs their heads examined. Funny, I feel the same way about Avalon-XAML. Personally, I think Ron is unhappy with the presence of MyXaml. What he and other people consistently seem to forget is that it's just a parser. You can write one in about a week. What's important is the value-added features and services that are provided along with the parser.
