Subject: Next Lexus revisionCan anyone tell me when the next Lexus revision is due? I have a couple of requests for changes:
There is still a namespace fix-up on my to-do-list. I can't make any prediction about when the next version of Lexus will be released
- Can it be made compatible with the latest versions of Xalan and Xerces? It would be good if it were compatible with java 1.4 without having recourse to set 'endorsed' lib directories that have to hold these old versions of the two jars.
This is something that has also been
bothering me, Lexus can easily be made compatible with the newest xalan and
xerces (or it already is), but I think the problem lies with the xmldb-common
jar which is dependent on an old version of xalan. I don't know if those classes
can easily be made compatible with the new xalan and xerces without breaking the
compatibility with other packages dependent on xmldb-common.
- Can Lexus define its own exceptions instead of relying on java.lang.Exception? It would be nice if the execute() method defined a fine-grained set of exceptions in its throws clause, allowing a calling program to discriminate between (say) errors in the update String and more catastrophic errors.
That probably is good a idea but not something that will be introduced in the next revision of Lexus unless someone volunteers to build it.
regards,
Jeroen
