You don't mention what graphics are in your laptop, so I don't know if it's the same issue, but... Several of us have noticed the recently added DRI support makes the ATI Radeon x700 in the Ferrari 4000 laptops much slower than before - simply adding the Option "DRI" "False" line to the driver section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf cured it. (If you're running the default of no xorg.conf, you can create one by killing the current desktop with "svcadm gdm disable", logging in on the command line, running "/usr/X11/bin/Xorg -configure" and then moving /root/xorg.conf.new to /etc/X11/xorg.conf and editing it - adding "pfexec" to those commands where needed if not logged in as root. Once it's in place, "svcadm gdm enable ; exit" to switch back from command line to gui login.) -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
