4. Technical Description
x11perf is the X11 server performance test program that runs one or
more performance tests and reports how fast an Xserver can execute
the tests. Based on Xlib, x11perf measures window management performance
as well as traditional graphics performance. It proves to be a useful tool
for analyzing and improving server performance.
This project delivers x11perf version 1.4.1 which includes 297 tests
for testing the X11 functionality, including tests for verifying the
recently added features like RENDER and the X Freetype library. In
addition to delivering the x11perf binary, this project will deliver:
- Xmark shell script for summarizing the test results
- x11perfcomp, which is a X11 server performance comparison program
that merges the output of several x11perf runs into a nice tabular
format, and the associated helper scripts (perfratio, fillblnk,
perfboth).
- The associated manpages.
