/etc/X11/.xorg.conf is not used by Xorg itself - it's just a template
for xorgcfg to use - ignore it. (We need to rename it, but haven't yet.)
Xorg should be using /etc/X11/xorg.conf (unless you're root and have a
xorg.conf in root's home directory) - does /var/log/Xorg.0.log give any
reason why it's not using it?
