We are doing the code review now for the DRI putback to Xorg for
Nevada. It will go into the current 6.9 tree first, then be
ported to the Xorg 7.2 tree. As with the ON putback, only Intel
915 series are supported by this initial putback, not Intel 945/965,
Matrox, ATI or anything else, though hopefully once the framework
is in place and the sample of i915 is available, interested
community members will be able to port other ones they are
interested in. (Odds of Sun being interested enough to officially
fund ports of anything beyond Intel i9xx & Radeon are very low,
so if you want to see Matrox or other fringe graphics boards, go
for it!)
DRI will never be supported in Xsun (on x86 at least - it's actually
already embedded in the XVR-2500 Xsun driver on SPARC, but that's
completely hidden in the XVR-2500 code and not part of the main Xsun
code base, nor will it support any other devices nor be visible to
end-users/applications).
