We are able to do this on SPARC/Xsun  whose HID drivers are fairly early 
(I don't  want to use the negative
connotation of "primitive").

X86/Xorg has some known impediments, chiefly the coelascing kbd/mouse 
drivers which are considered
advancement.
I suppose we could noodle around on this and determine what it would 
take, but please don't hold
your breath.
