Hi, I'm running Solaris 10u7 in KVM on Ubuntu 8.04.2 and hit an odd problem - cde-login works but gdm2-login doesn't. Looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log shows two differences: (II) CIRRUS(0): Creating default Display subsection in Screen section - "Builtin Default cirrus Screen 0" for depth/fbbpp 24/24 -(++) CIRRUS(0): Depth 24, (--) framebuffer bpp 24 + "Builtin Default cirrus Screen 0" for depth/fbbpp 24/32 +(==) CIRRUS(0): Depth 24, (==) framebuffer bpp 32 (==) CIRRUS(0): RGB weight 888 and (==) CIRRUS(0): Min pixel clock is 12 MHz -(--) CIRRUS(0): Max pixel clock is 85 MHz +(--) CIRRUS(0): Max pixel clock is 0 MHz (II) CIRRUS(0): Builtin Default Monitor: Using default hsync range of 31.50-60.00 kHz (II) CIRRUS(0): Builtin Default Monitor: Using default vrefresh range of 50.00-70.00 Hz -(II) CIRRUS(0): Clock range: 12.00 to 85.50 MHz -(II) CIRRUS(0): Not using default mode "640x350" (vrefresh out of range) +(II) CIRRUS(0): Minimum clock: 12.00 MHz +(II) CIRRUS(0): Not using default mode "640x350" (bad mode clock/interlace/doublescan) which continues on with the gdm X not finding any valid modes and quitting. I haven't tried SXCE or OpenSolaris but could fairly easily if required.
