On one occasion I managed get get output into the xterm, and it was a stream of fork: no space and cannot create pipe for command substitution: too many open files, which implies that something triggered by the insertion had gone awry.
Connecting into the machine with ssh while hung connects, but doesn't go into key exchange: symptoms of user space being dead or overloaded. Connecting into the machine prior to insertion works, obviously, but the connection hangs at the same time as the console hangs. I suspect this is a three pipe dtrace problem (I saw bmc a few months ago, but the problem he solved for me then was the way the keys work on a rented Prius) but what mystifies me is that the failure only occurs if Xorg is running. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
