This is exiting news! (your test bins bundle from a month ago had problems with dtlogin as well as gdm on my Elitegroup motherboard / Sempron64 / Radeon 7000 PCI bundle, the screen would remain black instead of showing any login-screen, but if you would blindly enter user and pw then a normal working gnome-session would start, I once had similar problems on SPARC with Server 1.3 on a U80 with certain Ati cards, I will test this with 1.5.3 on that Sempron PC and report it back if the problems still persists). This is what I meant about ten days ago, when I said I should write a report about it. Now circumstances (quick development by / inside the x11 group) force me to change my plan and to test the bins generated by the now-current gate, rather than the now "historic" test packages provided by Alan last December. However, this PC is not around here, so I cannot test it right now. > fox-gate: moved from Xorg 1.3 to 1.5.3 to match Nevada X gate > While I tried to make sure all of Martin's patches still applied, > I haven't verified his drivers still work Thanks. Well, I moved all the SPARC systems to dark places at the basement. But so far I didn't bring it over my heart to actually give them away. So I still have the testing hardware. If some distro is interested in legacy hardware support, then I shall enjoy testing those bits. This mainly includes SXCE and soon Indiana_SPARC (from several published meeting minutes it looks like the 2009.04 schedule might be met by Sun). They only need(ed[!]) to ping me.
