Two Sun engineers brought up Sun OpenGL on x86 with XVR-600 many years ago and it was used as as the initial OpenGL porting platform on x86 for a couple of ISVs and in house development of Project Looking Glass. This was never productized due to resource constraints and planned product directions but there was clearly no hostility towards OpenGL on x86.
