I've finally translated the packaging information for the X packages in the OpenSolaris OS 2008.05 release into a easier to read table, showing which packages were used from each of the two gates, which builds were used for the LiveCD and initial repo, and what changes were made in the SVR4->IPS conversions.
This table is posted at: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/x_win/OpenSolaris-2008-05/packages-2008-05/ If you need exact details on a package, the data used by the Indiana team to create the LiveCD & repo can be found in the IPS gate at: http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/pkg/gate/src/util/distro-import/ For instance, the changes to the SUNWxwplt package on IPS conversion are shown in: http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/pkg/gate/src/util/distro-import/i386/SUNWxwplt.86 You can see which files were dropped (not included), which had replacements imported from other packages, and which had attributes (permissions, paths, etc.) changed in the import. Unfortunately, this release caught us in the midst of several transitions -- X11R6 to X11R7, mostly closed source to mostly open source, internal source gate to external, SVR4 packages to IPS packages -- and thus is more complicated and messy than we'd like, but we're working to clean that up for future releases, once these transitions are completed. -- -Alan Coopersmith- alan.coopersmith at sun.com Sun Microsystems, Inc. - X Window System Engineering
