After seeing what a memory footprint gnome-terminal has, I figured to check what xterm does. Starting that application, it bogs down X11 into a slideshow. I've downloaded urxvt and compiled it, starting it does the same. Gnome-Terminal however runs fine. At least xterm ran fine on an older SXCE. What could be the problem?
