[i]but after login X would switch to 1600x1200 (running as the user).[/i] No. If only it would.! It did so until and included nv99, but has failed to do likewise since nv101. Now I get the 1024x768, the frequent panel crashes (without me touching or clicking anything after entering my credentials), and the step-wise 'upgrade' only using NVIDIA X settings.
