I'd be interested to know, what sort of changes are made to xscreensaver for
Open/Solaris other than the GTK dialog? I noticed at least with 4.05 in
Solaris 10 that it allows root unlock to be used with PAM (stock can only do it
using shadow auth). Is there a list somewhere?

Thanks,
William Yang

If you're asking for Sun's X team to update Xscreensaver, then
I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen right now. I spent
some time a while ago working on it, and the complete rewrite
of the PAM code in xscreensaver 5.02 is going to require several
weeks of work to redesign/rewrite our PAM modifications and GTK
lock dialog (the pain of being forked so far from upstream), and
we've got a full list of higher priority things to get done for
the 2008.11 release before anyone here is likely to have a few
  spare weeks to do that.

Of course, that shouldn't stop any distro who wants a newer one
from doing the work themselves - especially if they don't care
about Sun Ray or accessibility support, and can just use the
upstream lock dialog & PAM code.
