Yes, we are 2 months behind the latest community release - that's
life.   (Of course, you probably don't remember the times a decade
ago when Sun was 3-4 years behind X Consortium releases - that we've
got down to complaining about 2 months is major progress.)

Not going to 1.4.0 was a deliberate decision - there were too many
bugs and too little time left before the freeze for the next SXDE
release.   We're waiting for 1.4.1 to come out from X.Org this month,
and for the SXDE freeze period to be over, which leaves us targeting
Nevada build 80 for 1.4.1 (code freeze for that build is December 3,
so we may slip that given the community slip of 1.4.1).

The Mesa version is the one required for Xserver 1.3.0 - that Xserver
release will not build against newer Mesa versions.   Since Xserver 1.4.x
requires a new Mesa version, we'll have to update in lockstep there.
