Xft is separate from freetype - the source is available from
X.Org in the libXft package, or you can get it (and all of KDE
for that matter) from blastwave.org.

It'll run much better on Solaris 10 or later of course, since
then you'll have the Xorg server which actually supports the
extensions Xft uses, and will have freetype & libXft included
in Solaris already for you.
