I won't be working on Monday, so won't be on the P-Team call to
report - here's the update since my status report of a week ago:
1) Code:
Xorg target codebase based on Xorg 6.9RC2 release checked
into X Nevada build 28, undergoing Pre-Integration Testing
now by Desktop QA to see if it can integrate into Nevada.
This is the codebase targeted for our initial OpenSolaris
release - we were able to drop the number of Sun-modified
files by over half, either because we contributed our changes
back to X.org for the 6.9 release or because our modifications
were pulling in code from the 6.9 release to our 6.8.2 release.
There are now approximately 180 files in our Xorg planned
release, consisting of:
43 - Sun package definitions & scripts
15 - Sun created build scripts & related files
40 - modified versions of source code from X.Org
45 - Sun customizations to Imakefiles to change how
software is built for Solaris
43 - Sun customizations to keyboard data files for
Sun keyboards and/or Xsun compatibility
These are now all either completely Sun created or files from
the existing open source releases with either Sun-created
modifications and/or modifications from other versions of the
open-source. For this build, I verified that all the Sun
created files include the X license statement. (We do not
use the CDDL in X.)
A small number of files from the non-Xorg portions of the X
tree will also be needed to compile.
The remaining steps to getting the code ready to release are:
1) building source tarballs for distribution
2) writing & testing instructions for building from those tarballs.
2) Paperwork:
Despite my best efforts at looking overloaded and harried while
finishing the code work, sadly no gnomes appeared in my office
overnight to magically fill out the remaining paperwork for me.
I guess I'll have to get back to working on that again soon.
I think we are still Green for release in this quarter - making Novemeber
mainly depends on how fast I can fill out paperwork and find all the right
people to approve while still doing all my other work.
