I plugged the external monitor in after all booted up and logged in. Opened nvidia-settings, did not see the external monitor. I rebooted the computer with it attached then nvidia-settings was able to see the external monitor. Is there a way to allow the external monitor to be found without a reboot? I was able to configure TwinView then disable the primary display without restarting the xserver. All in all, I had to have the external monitor connected initially and still require a restart or reboot for the external monitor to be seen. Still no solution where I would like to press a button or launch a script to get it configured after connecting the external monitor. Paul
