Hi, thank you for your suggestion, however  it didn't work.  Note that CPU load 
looks normal as it does not exceed 5-10%.

Anyway I wouldn't  have insisted but I checked it again and the problem does 
not appear on snv_111b (xorg 1.5.3, gnome 2.24.3) but It shows up on snv_123 
(xorg 1.6.3 gnome 2.26.3) on the same hardware. Unfortunately I am not aware of 
X internals so  I 've attached Xorg.log and gdm log from both setups in case it 
helps you identify the problem. Otherwise I will file a bug for this issue.
