Thanks, I thought I might be missing something or at minimun not understanding everything I was seeing. Where can I read about the "compatibile" value and how it works to select the driver ?
>From prtconf -D I'm seeing display, instance #0 (driver name: vgatext) But my question is, is that really what I want ? And is it imperative that the "best" driver get associated with the device on boot ? Or will a more appropriate driver be bound when needed ? I am assuming that "vgatext" is not the driver I want when running the X server. Just to see if I understand, if I added 'i915 "pci8086,2e32"' to /etc/driver_aliases would that get me closer to the driver I think would be preferable ? And should there be an entry for i915 with "pci8086,2e32" in driver_aliases ? Thanks. -rick -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
