Short summary: We're basically done.
As of today's close of Nevada build 129, the X gate builds 76
packages (of which 1 is currently only built on x86 platforms,
and 3 are only built on sparc platforms).
A full build of the XW_NV open gate can generate 70 of those
packages fully, without errors, and with their full contents.
The remaining encumbered components have been isolated to the
remaining 6 packages, which will are all EOF and not being
transitioned to IPS. This means once the WOS builds transition
to IPS-only at build 131, every package delivered from the X gate
will be buildable from the XW_NV gate hosted on opensolaris.org.
These 6 packages are:
Xsun: SUNWxsun-headers SUNWxsun-server SUNWxwts SUNWxwpsr
Encumbered fonts: SUNWxwfnt SUNWxwoft
(The NVDA* packages deliver via the X consolidation, but are not
part of the X gate, and are mostly not open source, except for
a few components, such as the GPL-licensed nvidia-settings GUI,
so are not counted in any of the above.)
This clears the biggest obstacle to converting our gate from
Teamware to hg. The remaining ones are mainly converting our
build scripts and other infrastructure to work with it, and I
hope to be working on that early next year.
