I tried mplayer using video driver OpenGL and the performance was quite poor as expected. Does OpenGL utilize GLX or a different driver ? I tried using the XVideo output driver but that failed, probably because of some missing libraries as I used an mplayer executable I had built on my workstation. I probably should recompile mplayer on this laptop. Does Xvideo also use DRI if possible ? Which of "GL", Xvideo or X11 video driver would you expect to perform the best when there is no hardware support ?
