I can confirm this behavior but I would restrict it only for Kubuntu. I still have the same feeling that the problem is in Qt-incompatibility somewhere...

The ipython terminal shows a strange behaviour when starting yade with a script. In addition, yade might crash when doing some simple operations in the ipython command line.
