I understand your point, but in fact there is nothing permanent here.
The "real" wiki is on hmg. Even if www.yade-dem.org redirect to hmg now,
it can be redirected to something else later (like a more general website).
If we pick "wiki.yade", we are stuck with a domain name that can
reasonably point to a wiki only.
If we pick "www.yade", it can point to the wiki now, and to something
else later.
Not sure if we can use just yade-dem.org in the future. www/wiki is
mandatory to solve this certification problem, don't ask me why, I have
no clue.
Or perhaps the certificate is only needed because of Grenoble university
security policy, so even if wiki.yade-dem.org points to hmg, the
yade-dem.org can still be used to point somewhere else? Is that what you
mean?

it is better to call it just yade-dem.org <http://yade-dem.org>. There
can be, for example, small yade demonstration, direct download links,
