Jan, The compilation seems to have run OK : the last message was much more encouraging ! You were right about the RAM : I had given only 1024 MBytes to Ubuntu in VirtualBox. Giving it 2048 Gbytes and using the values you suggest for chunkSize and jobs options did the job.
