Question #244277 on Yade changed: https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/244277
Alexander Eulitz [Eugen] proposed the following answer: Interesting points that you mention matthias, thank you for that. This should be added to the (multicore) performance pages on the wiki, I think. One thing that I'd like to add: I observed strange fluctuations in performance on a 32-thread server. If I start a yade-batch script twice which uses 16 cores in total and assigns 4 cores to each of the 12 jobs (via OMP_THREADS column in batch table) performance fluctuates between the two yade-batch "instances". E.g. the first instance shows a performance in job#1 of 1,000 iterations/second and the second instance 100 iterations/seconds. Meanwhile there was no other calculation on the server that would consum cpu power. Furthermore there is sufficient RAM (128 GB) for both instances. I tried starting just one instance and this can result in either a fast or a slow one. (i'm not sure if I already reported this thing before) -- You received this question notification because you are a member of yade-users, which is an answer contact for Yade. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~yade-users Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~yade-users More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
