Just want to make sure that I understand you correctly.
I don't know what "s_ij * s_ij" stands for. But since deviator is the second
invariant of the strain tensor(I_2), it can be expressed as
I_2 = 1/2 * {trace(e^2) - [trace(e)]^2}
= e_xy * e_xy + e_xz *e_xz + e_yz * e_yz - e_xx * e_yy - e_yy * e_zz -
e_xx * e_zz
where "e" is the strain tensor
Magnitude is the L_2,1 norm of the strain tensor, which is the sum of
Euclidean norm of columns in that tensor.
Is that right?
