Robert Caulk proposed the following answer: Glad to help! Correct me if I am wrong, but the randomness is caused by DFNFlow, you observe it with the basic FlowEngine as well in your original post. So I do not think it is DFNFlow in particular that is causing the randomness. Instead, it seems to be caused by third party libraries employed by the shared solver. Either way, we can compare the differences between current and 2017.01.a FlowEngines using Github compare [1]. Good luck!
