Gary Pekmezi confirmed that the question is solved:
I managed to resolve this problem. As suspected, it was a linker issue.
The issue was that pygts did not know where to look for my local gts
build. This was resolved by adding the gts/lib path to $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
