Robert Caulk proposed the following answer:
Your iterperiod is quite small for such a fast simulation. You could try
increasing that by a couple orders of magnitude (change iterperiod=100
to iterperiod=10000) and see if that helps.
Also, please open a terminal and type:
python
import matplotlib
matplotlib.__version__
and report the result.
