Status: Open => Answered Jan Stránský proposed the following answer: Hello, yes, if you apply confining / transverse pressure, you should have negative transverse strain, just because the sample is compacted. The "offset" can be done in various ways. E.g. you can apply transverse stress, let the sample "relax", set refPos of all bodies to current pos and continue with axial loading. Or you can offset it in the postprocessing phase, simply by shifting the strain such that it has zero instead of undesired negative values. Or ...
