IIRC Suse actually does some really clever on their graphics boot which
was actually really hard to handle in Xen guests. I kind of wonder if
that's an issue with the old kvm that was used here. Anyway, I don't
think this is an OpenStack bug per say.

Title:
Random KVM boot failure: "This kernel requires the following features
not present on the CPU"
Status in OpenStack Compute (Nova):
Invalid
Bug description:
Ubuntu Oneiric, KVM, devstack.
While booting identical images, I got the below error on boot from one
of the instances. Booting again from the same image does work. I
looked for any error messages in /var/log or anything different, I
couldn't find anything.
I'm guessing this is a KVM bug, though my google-fu is not up to
finding any bug reports for KVM because I think this happens all the
time whenever the image is mismatched. That isn't the case here
though, because booting another instance from the same image works.
Error printed during boot:
This kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:
fpu msr pae cx8 cmov fxsr sse sse2
Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU
