Title:
Document that network-config MAC addresses should be lower case
Status in cloud-init:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Currently users may see failures if using upper-case MAC addresses in
network configuration, because cloud-init does not appropriately
normalise the case of MAC addresses in all situations.
https://cloudinit.readthedocs.io/en/latest/topics/network-config-
format-v2.html should be updated to (a) only use lower-case MAC
addresses, and (b) indicate to users that this is an intentional
choice that they need to follow.
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1876363 covers fixing the
underlying issue, this is strictly about documenting the currently-
required input.)
