This is a feature request, not a bug and dmi information encoded in libvirt vms is both configurable and non portable across nova compute virt drivers.
i do not agree that https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud- init/+bug/2069607 is a cve but i am very reluctant to continue to expand this undocumented internal implementation detail of one of nova virt driver. if we considut to support this interface at all we likely shoudl remove the package version info form teh dmi info because that was previously cosndierd a secrity weakness. even if we were to do this for the libvirt driver this does not fix the regresion in cloud int for ironic and other virt driver like vmware or zvm so i think the cloud-init team shoudl recondier there approch to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/2069607 ** Changed in: nova Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: nova Status: In Progress => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Yahoo! OpenStack using kvm on arm64, does not identify itself to the guest in any way. The result is that OpenStack nodes will not attempt to reach the metadata service and will be unusable.
