I hope the moderators will consider approving this message, even though it is somewhat off-topic relative to Messenger, per se. However, it does concern Yahoo policies and some other stuff which I think many more people should be aware of.
Personally I don't like HTML-formatted email messages. They are about 5-7 times as large as a plain text message, due to the "excessive baggage" - graphics and backgrounds totally unnecessary to communicate effectively in email. Also, viruses, malicious code and spyware can be hidden in HTML messages. Now add into this mix, the fact that HTML messages can and do also carry "web beacons", another piece of devious tracking code. I read ALL my email in plain text only. Web beacons and other codes do not transmit through plain text. Readers might wish to consider the information in the following URL which leads to: Yahoo! Privacy / Yahoo! Privacy Center / Web Beacons http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/beacons/details.html You can change your Yahoo email preferences to "plain-text" only by signing into your Yahoo email and clicking on "Mail Options", then click on "General Preferences", then under "Composing" choose "Compose messages as plain text". Then to protect yourself when reading emails, on the same page under "Messages","Security", choose "Block HTML graphics in email messages from being downloaded". In case you did not know, Yahoo constantly changes its privacy policies and seldom, if ever, bothers to tell users! Your privacy is in your own hands, to the extent that there still can be any privacy! Even in your own email client, such as Outlook, Outlook Express or Eudora, you can and should choose to compose and receive all email as plain text...for your own safety. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unsubscribe from Yahoo_Messenger mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Switch from Normal to Digest mail mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Switch from Normal to NoMail mail mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Switch from Digest or NoMail to Normal mail mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Write to the Moderators and Owner of the List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Suggestions for improvements to the List should be sent to the "owner" address listed above.
