actually james what you just told me helps a lot!!!!

This is actually what happens...

When yahoo opens and goes to sign in, it chooses a login server...

it goes thru zone alarm and you accept

Now yahoo says ok, we got the ok, so sign in again. The only problem
is that yahoo has changed servers and zone alarm doesn't like the fact
that something is trying to access the system.

You need to really go deep into zone alarm and find a way to click on
yahoo to accept any request relating to yahoo log in server.

I've heard a few people having problems with zone alarm, and my two
suggestions would be firstly, turn off zone alarm and try to log in.
If you can, then turn zone alarm back on. Or secondly, make sure that
if you have window's XP SP2, that the ports which yahoo needs are
open. XP SP2 was designed to keep your system safe, and it also
closed down ports that yahoo needs to operate.

And Finally, I'd be curious if you have ever been able to log into
yahoo, or if you are just trying for the first time. If you have
always used yahoo messenger, and just now are having problems, then
it's a conflict between a program you are running and yahoo. Some of
those programs are (Firewalls, Router's built in firewalls, virus
software i.e. nortons, Macafee, zone alarm, window's blind, spybot
pro, and adaware".
