While this isn't the right forum for this question, Yahoo Answers was correct. You do not need to reinstall your XP operating system (OS). If you uninstall IE7, it will revert back to your latest version of IE that you were running... probably IE6, BUT....
If you are having trouble with IE7, it's probably not IE7 that's causing it. It's a very stable browser. I've been involved in the Beta Testing of IE7 for over a year and MS is finally getting things right in the Beta Testing before they release things to the public. It's probably something on your computer that's adversely affecting IE7, that you should work on fixing. IE7 is a much, much better browser as far as features and security are concerned. Reverting back to IE6 will make your computer more susceptible to malware being installed against your wishes which then affects the rest of us. In all likelihood, you may already have some malware on your computer which is affecting the installation/operation of IE7. Try using the FREE Windows Live Safety Center One Care online scanner which will check your computer for malware (viruses, spyware, etc.), fix any registry errors, remove junk temp files and defrag your hard drive. You will have to allow the small Active-X download to install and run the scanner. There is no need to buy anything to use this fully functioning scanner/cleaner. It's provided by Microsoft at no charge. Also consider the many other FREE Security programs out there if you do not have a properly secured computer. I recommend that everyone should run this weekly on your computer regardless of your current security configurations. Most people do not have good computer security habits and this will help stop the spread of malware and spam by the computers that become zombies for hackers.
