When you uninstalled the old version, it probably left some of the junk behind... most programs do. If you run a registry cleaner (I use WinASO Registry Optimizer for FREE but there are others) and get rid of all of the YM junk and probably lots of other junk in your registry, you might have better success on loading a new version. You can also find one of the older versions on sites like filehippo.com and many other sites.
You might want to move your archives (if you kept your IM's archived) to another folder so it does not get deleted. Then browse to your YM Program folder and delete it completely to get rid of anything else YM related and then try loading the new program. Ask out here if you need help in doing this.
