Web Messenger has always been available but it is a limited use application.
You can get to it at http://messenger.yahoo.com and then scroll down to the
bottom of the page and click the "Launch Web Messenger". You need to be
signed in with your Yahoo ID first. I think you may still have to download
a small applet into IE but I don't remember exactly. It's a one time
download of the applet into IE.

I haven't used it in a while and it's Java based so it will open the "Web
Messenger" window. I just updated to Java 1.5.0_10 and it does not seem to
be working with this version or maybe I need to tweak my Java settings.
This application is useful for people at work who cannot download YM to
their work computers but still want to be able to "chat" or monitor their
kids.... although the kids may know how to make themselves "invisible" to
people that they want to hide from. ;)

I heard about a new version of messenger that I didn't have to download onto
my computer in order to use it. Does anyone have the link to this version?
Thank you very much for your time, Kathy
