Hi Lisa, Some of the pre-programmed messages are a permanent part of YM but I'm sure there are some registry hacks. I wouldn't recommend this option for most users.
You are allowed to create your own custom messages. Click on the down arrow on the "Available" list and you will see "New Status Message". Choose that and create your own message. You can show yourself as "busy" or not. I have a custom message almost all of the time and after you create it the first time with either the "busy" or not busy icon, if you want to change it one way or the other just choose that custom message again and click/unclick the box. I believe that YM vs. 7.5... only allows for up to 5 custom messages... at least that's the most mine ever shows. When I create a new one, the oldest one drops off the list.
