Is it just slow in closing or does it not respond at all? I run a lot of memory intensive applications on my computer so I push the amount of available memory at times. I also keep a few IE webpages (Weather Underground Local Radar) open which I know fills up the temporary internet files (TIF) so when this happens, IE becomes sluggish. I use CCleaner once a day to keep the TIF files cleaned out but when IE becomes sluggish, so will Yahoo Messenger. I also remember a case a few years back when I would click the red X and it would take around 5 seconds to close and would freeze all other YM functions while it was waiting to close but I did a reinstall which cleared up that issue. I think it was a faulty DLL file. I've also found that when my YM gets sluggish (due to the above IE reasons), if I click the red X and then click it again, it will close immediately. Check this to see if it works in your case.
So, in conclusion, I don't think you are hacked but if you suspect you are (possible if you do not have good security on your computer), what security programs do you run on your computer? You should be using a current and updated antivirus, antispyware and GOOD firewall (NOT Windows Firewall). You do not have to spend money on these applications. There are many, many FREE programs that will do these three things... AVG Free Antivirus, AVG Free AntiSpyware, Zone Alarm Firewall are some but there are many others. A good site to check these free applications out and get information on their use is Castle Cops Security Forums - http://www.castlecops.com/forums.html Lenny Vasbinder 504-621-1870 FREE and automatic online remote backup of your documents, photos and files... https://mozy.com/?ref=SY4ZSI Check out how simple and secure it can be to use the Mozy remote backup system. Mozy will back up your most important files and folders every day/night while you aren't using your computer. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of blackandrunning Sent: Monday, June 18, 2007 12:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Y!M] Messenger's x and minimize buttons Sometimes messsenger does not respond when I try to minimize or close it.
