Do you know how to use MSCONFIG? It's likely something that Yahoo added into your "Startup" when you updated and maybe added on the Yahoo Toolbar or some other junk that the various companies try to force on people when they do a "Standard" install.
Whenever downloading and installing a new program, I ALWAYS choose "Custom Install" over their "recommended" install so that I can see exactly what is being installed and where. This "Custom Install" also gives you control over what gets installed and where and you can uncheck any of the "options" that they are trying to force on your computer. If you are familiar with MSCONFIG, go to your Startup and Services tabs and uncheck the "junk" that wants to Startup every time you start your computer. Most IM programs, Media Players and many other programs will automatically add themselves to your Startup as if you want all that crap running all of the time. You can take most programs out of Startup and they will still work fine when you need them but you don't need them all running 100% of the time and especially making your computer take forever to boot up because of all their junk. Immediately after starting up, you can also use Task Manager to see how many processes are running. On one of my slower computers, I only have 20-something processes running full time where on my faster computer, I have 40-something processes running full time. Most computers should be somewhere in between those numbers. If you aren't familiar with MSCONFIG, then you should go to a forum (I use CastleCops for most things like this) and let them help you take all the junk out of your computer Startup.
