I don't fool with that page, http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups, very often so I just went there and sure enough, it opened in the expanded view. Then I clicked on Simple and it changed. Then I X'ed out of the page without signing out and when I went back to it, it was still in the Simple view but when I signed out and went back to it and signed back in, it opened in the expanded view. Apparently, the Expanded view is the default view determined by Yahoo. If you don't sign out of the Yahoo ID (I check off the "Leave me signed in for two weeks" thing when I first log in), it will remember your last "preference" but if you sign out, apparently it goes back to the default settings.
